After recently announcing that Tottenham Hotspur Football Club has signed its second shirt sponsorship deal in as many months with investment bank Investec. The cost to the fan is do they get another Tottenham shirt for the European games.

The financial services firm’s name will appear on players’ shirts in cup matches, including European club competitions, FA Cup and League Cup.

Spurs signed a deal with IT firm Autonomy Corporation last month for its brand to appear on shirts during Premier League matches.

The dual shirt sponsorship strategy, the first employed by a Premier League club, is set to boost Spurs’ commercial revenues.

The club has so far declined to disclose the value of the two-year deal with Investec.

However, the Autonomy deal was said to be worth about £20m over two years, already a significant improvement on the £8.5m per year previous sponsor online casino Mansion paid to have its name on shirts during matches played in all competitions.

Sponsorship experts have said that the strategy offers partners a route to a specific market because of the popularity of English and European club football globally.

Investec, which already sponsors the autumn rugby union internationals at Twickenham and horse racing’s Derby Festival, says that the deal will help increase its “brand awareness through the immense reach of domestic and European cup football”.

The new cup shirt will be worn for the first time during the first leg of the club’s Champions League qualifying tie against Young Boys in Switzerland tonight (17 August).

The home shirt with the Investec logo will also be released for retail sale.

Critics have previously said that the dual sponsorship strategy is simply a cynical ploy to boost shirt sales.

A new independent poll by Tesco Pet Insurance has found that Brits are putting their pets first as they plan their holidays. A quarter of dog owners in Britain have deliberately chosen a holiday in the UK over a holiday abroad so that their pet could go with them.

Leaving Bubbles or Fido behind in the kennels while they enjoy a summer break is not an option for 83% of dog owners and 12% plan to take their dog with them on the next holiday they take.

The UK’s Pet Travel Scheme (PETS) means that it’s now possible for pet owners to take dogs or cats abroad within the EU. Last year 46,500 EU pet passports were issued by the government to veterinary practices in the UK.

Tesco Pet Insurance is making it easier for their customers to take their pets on holiday, giving them peace of mind, with an optional extra of overseas travel cover. Overseas travel cover will help towards quarantine costs if a pet falls ill, cover if a pet’s passport gets lost and holiday cancellation cover if a customer’s pet is too ill to travel.

For those planning on holidaying with their pets, there is lots to organise in advance and pets:
• Must have blood tests at vet
• Should be treated against tapeworm and ticks
• Must be fully vaccinated (especially against rabies)
• Must be microchipped
• Must have an up to date PETS passport
• Check the import requirements of your destination

Gillian Lewis of Airpets says, “It may seem a daunting prospect, with health checks and a flight but more than a million pets fly safely world-wide each year. Pets travel comfortably in the livestock hold of direct passenger flights in kennels large enough for them to lie, stand and turn around in. Pet owners can pick up their pets after clearing customs.”

Rachel Cutler, head of Tesco Pet Insurance says, “As a nation of animal lovers, it is telling that a quarter of us organise our holidays around our pets. We’ve provided cover because our customers have told us they would like to share their holiday experience with their pets.”

A flash website that was recently updated with major improvements could be just the thing for your kids during our great British Summer holidays..

Moshi Monsters is a great game that many children enjoy. The game designed by Mind Candy is well put together and is a good way to keep up maths and other skills during summer holidays.

The great thing from a parents point of view is that the daily challenge, that gains the child some Roxs (the local currency) is a combination of word, number and other puzzles. This is run against the clock. The more correct questions you answer the more Roxs you win. Also as you build up your ‘level line’ you move through from the first level to the sceonds, third and so on. At the end of each level you get a trophy. This helps with the sense of achievement as another reward for the puzzles (other than the Roxs).

Your monster lives in a room, these rooms can be fully customised by visiting Ukea, Horrods, Bizarre Bizarre. Like other ‘caring for pet’ games, you must feed the monster and tickle him (or her) to keep them happy.

Monsters room

This room belong to ‘hairymatt’ who has filled it with a robot, dinosaur and so many other things I can’t keep track of them.

Each room also contains the necessary ‘Social Media’ tools, a friends tree and a message board.br />
Surprisingly these kids really know how to communicate with the message board. There is also a great competition to gather the most friends on your friends tree. Although I find this is more obvious when they play with school friends in real life, rather than on the message boards.

Navigation around monster land is simple thanks to a great map, which the kids just click on

Navigate around with the monster land map

As with many of these things there is the opportunity to become a ‘member’, for a fee. Certain areas of the map are off limits to regular ‘free accounts’ but my kids certainly have plenty of fun with the free account.

Big bonus if the puzzles keep them going and although a little help with one or two of them is sometimes required, on the whole it is a well put together site which is great fun for them
